I was not and am not aware of what they are. If the virtual disk has been completely deleted then unless you can use 3rd party utilities to recover the disk files and or without a proper back then you're out of luck and will have to create a new one and reinstall Windows.Īs for for trying other utilities that can perhaps recover the vmdk files. Vmkfstools is not a part of VMware Fusion and even if it was, it's absolutely useless in a recovering deleted virtual disk files with VMware Fusion. And possibly other KB protocols like this one. Here's the web link to - How to steal a virtual machine and its data in 3 easy stepsĪny help in either recreating the missing Virtual Machine Disk "Win 7 Pro.vmdk" or getting my files w/o having to fix the problem would be greatly appreciated. I could not restore from a backup as the Virtual Disk was also missing in the backup before the 6.0.2 upgrade. When I tried to restart it that's when I got the message about the Virtual Disk missing. So I shut down the VM before the install completed. I freaked and during this installation and thought something was wrong with the install of VMware Tools. The screen went small and the desk icons went large, as if the resolution was reduced. And during the install of the VMware Tools my Desk Top went funky. This problem happened during the upgrade to 6.0.2. I cannot power up my VM b/c it says that this file was moved or missing. somehow the Virtual Disk "Win 7 Pro.vmdk" file got deleted and is now missing.
